Four Stories review / Pale Lights band

Tweet Tweet!Jigsaw Records is a record shop and mail order whatsit that specializes in indiepop, power pop, indie rock, lo- fi pop, twee, and pretty much any other kind of fun pop music that they fancy, has the new single in stock.

Also SoundsXP, a London based has given the single a very nice review - thanks chaps! When we recorded Dear Claire I asked Kyle to try and make the organ sound a bit like The Chills. SoundsXP noticed. Good skills Kyle! We love The Chills. We nearly did a live cover of Doledrums, but we chickened out. Maybe one day...

Hopefully the single will be appearing in a few more shops soon, including Norman Records, and Pebble Records in the UK, Hands & Arms in France, Insound in the US, and a few more places too.

While Dora is away at grad school, Pale Lights is a new band featuring Phil, Lisa, and Andy, who play in the Soft City. Phil writes and sings (like he did on the first Soft City EP, before Dora joined), Lisa drums, and Andy plays guitar. In addition their friend Maria plays bass. They will be playing their second show at Otto's Shrunken Head, E14th St., NYC, Oct. 10th. They'll be recording sometime before the end of the year. It'll be messier than the Soft City, but hopefully still pretty!

Show and new EP sleeve.

Hello!

The Soft City are playing a show with Corita, at Pianos, 158 Ludlow at Stanton, New York City.

We're on at 9, Corita are on at 10. There will be a give-away or competition. Not decided what yet...

Here's the finished sleeve for our new single, out in May or June. It was designed by Krister Bladh and features a pie chart - surely a first!

NYC Show

We've been a bit quiet on the show front of late. Jason moved to Baltimore, so playing show's has been a bit difficult. Since then we have been joined by Andy from Crystal Stlits who has kindly agreed to play guitar, and Lisa, who is playing drums: Phil has moved on to rhythm guitar. He's our new Bonehead. But not as good!

As such, we're playing a wee, free show at Kyle's Korner, Otto's Shrunken Head, NYC, on February 14th - Valentine's Night no less. We may or may not be covering a song by The Monks... There will be some other acts too, playing in the newly reopened tiki bar at the back. We'll be doing mostly new songs, and one or two oldies. We're not sure yet! It all kicks off at 10.

The new EP is finished and we're waiting for the artwork. We'll previewthe 4 track EP, titled Four Stories (available digitally and on 33 1/3 rpm 7" vinyl in the Spring) sometime soon. The three people who have heard it liked it, so fingers crossed! It's very likely we'll record another EP before that one is finished being pressed.

Listening to The Zombies reissues on 33 1/3 rpm 7" at the moment - "'66" is amazing! So mazing I made a fake record sleeve. This isn't how it'll look, but it's fun to muck about.
